Just a month after my father’s heart failed and we almost lost him, we all entered the Christmas season. The tumult of the previous month brought a beautiful solemnity and weight to the time and I felt each moment as a morsel to savor.
A few new ornaments have found their place on the tree…a sewn digestive paired with an unpictured chocolate digestive (because I couldn’t help myself)…a felt campfire from one of our favorite little local shops…a ceramic lace stamped heart from Illyria Pottery in Oxford from our trip…a hand-blown fly trap from Objects of Use, also in Oxford.
With cousins in town, we wandered through our favorite corners of a cold, beautifully decorated Pike Place.
And time at home? It glowed in a different and precious way.
