the tricky bit
I have a very selective yarn stash. This is wonderful because it fits in the apartment. It can be very frustrating because I find myself shrinking away from using any of it because I love all of it.
the make do
Using what I have already and finding projects that will last so I can fully enjoy the depth and significance of the yarns without just letting them languish in the basket with nothing to do but look pretty.
Christmas stockings were the perfect project for the particular yarns I was struggling to use this time. Both were gifts...the white wool (raw, ethical, and from Limpley Stoke, Bath), the red from relatives in Suffolk who allowed me to stay with them for a time.
The buttons (yet another stash I allow to live despite the space limits) were a couple favorites of mine. (added benefit of the coin having special significance to Katie Jay and thereby making its way onto her stocking).
