walk to work

Walking to work is an ever-changing, full-body experience. I find myself drawn in to the physicality of walking up the steep hill, breathing in the air, watching the buildings go past, and hearing the sounds of the many people just out of sight. Here are a few of the smells that I encountered on a single walk to work.

Cold grass and concrete

Sharp frost on tree branches

Damp pot smoke followed by warm laundry steam

Fresh cedar fence and wood chips

Stale grocery store air

Urine from the alleyway

Pine-clean breeze

Hot butter stains on glass oven doors

Sharp morning coffee
