I have found it important to leave the house some of the time that your guest is home.
It changes it from "my home" to "our space" and gives them a time and place to be quiet, alone, and open. It also gives you the time to run an errand, go for a walk (which you probably should take anyway), or simply wander wherever you want for a little while. While this time could be built in due to your own work schedule, all the better. If not, it' would be most likely be good for everyone involved.
Tiny spaces can be hard...
...but thoughtfulness (even unconventional thoughtfulness) is extremely rewarding.
